Hello, spring

May 23, 2012|Susie Hoffman | Around Funkstown

Good morning friends, and hello spring and all the beautiful weather that follows.

The school year is winding down. Baseball is finishing up at the school, and Little Leagues and the summer leagues are setting their schedules.

Spend the day at Funkstown Park and check out the Funkstown Legion team. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon, indeed.

Memorial Day, a day of remembrance

Hopefully, the weather will cooperate this weekend as most enjoy a three-day weekend in observance of Memorial Day on Monday.

Take time out of your day to remember and honor those who have fallen in service of our country in past wars. Our gratitude is such a small price for their sacrifice.

Celebrating mom and dad

These few weeks there are three holidays to celebrate, all honoring those who have sacrificed and given.

Mother’s Day has passed and Memorial Day is Monday. Next is Father’s Day, and really, dads need to hear that thank you.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Funkstown will host a joint Mother’s Day-Father’s Day dinner at Funkstown American Legion on Saturday, June 16. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the roast beef dinner will be served at 6 p.m.

Entertainment will be provided by the Washington County Senior Idols at 7:30 p.m.
