Downtown facade grants available in Chambersburg

May 22, 2012

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Downtown Chambersburg Inc. is seeking applications from downtown property owners interested in making improvements to their facades.

The program includes repair, appearance, signage and awning improvements. Properties will be considered within the Main Street program area: north to the Falling Spring Creek, south to Washington Street, east to Second Street and west to Spring Street and the rail trail.

The program is intended to offset costs of up to $2,500 for facade repair and up to $500 for a new awning or sign. The applicant must provide a dollar-for-dollar match and the project cannot proceed until after it has been approved by the Design Committee.

The grant is a reimbursement grant, meaning project costs will not be paid by DCI until after the work has been completed and paid.

An information workshop is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on June 28 at the Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce, 100 Lincoln Way East, for anyone interested in the façade grant program. The application deadline is July 31. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis after July 31.

For more information, call 717-264-7101, ext. 207.
