Benjamin Franklin Litten, 91, of Boonsboro, Md., and formerly of Halfway, Md., passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village in Boonsboro.

He was born Dec. 9, 1920, in Quicksburg, Va., to the late Charles Edward and Elsie Davenport Newlin Litten.

He was employed by Arnetts Garage for 15 years until it closed in 2000. He was previously employed by Robert F. Zigler Inc. for 19 years until retiring in 1984.

He was a very active member of Downsville Church of the Brethren.

Survivors include his wife, Blanche Viola Long Litten, whom he married June 29, 1941, of Boonsboro; daughter, Doris Elaine Smith of Hagerstown, Md.; daughter, Kay Lorraine Rhodes of Hagerstown; sister, Ruth Martin of Kearneysville, W.Va.; sister, Mary Eikelberger of Chattanooga, Tenn.; sister, Hazel Long of Williamsport, Md.; sister, Lila Haywood of Hagerstown; brother, Rowland Litten of Hagerstown; brother, Norman Litten of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Michael Smith, Mark Smith, Karen Rhodes Bryan and Andrew Rhodes; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Lelia Litten, Frances Litten and Dora Lee Eakle; and four brothers, Claude Litten, Sydney Litten, John Litten and William Litten.

The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Manor Church of the Brethren on Thursday, May 24, 2012, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wilkie Nunn officiating. Interment will be in Manor Cemetery, Tilghmanton, Md.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Downsville Church of the Brethren, 8228 Dam No. 4 Road, Williamsport, MD 21795.
