May 20, 2012

CLEAR SPRING — A Sunday morning garage fire northeast of Clear Spring destroyed a 2002 Chevy pickup and damaged three riding lawn mowers and other belongings inside, Clear Spring Fire Chief Mike Reid said Sunday.

The call for a fully involved garage fire at 13831 Faith Road came in at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, according to Washington County Emergency Services and Reid.

The roof of the double-car garage on the farm was burned off when Clear Spring firefighters arrived, Reid said. The concrete block garage measured about 30 feet by 30 feet, he said.

The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, Reid said.

Damage to the garage was estimated to be $25,000, with another $25,000 in damage to the garage’s contents, Reid said.

Firefighters cleared the scene at about 7 a.m. Sunday, Reid said.

Maugansville Goodwill Volunteer Fire Co. helped put out the fire, he said.
