May 17, 2012

Thumbs up to the organizers of and the competitors in the Golden Age Olympics this week at The American Legion in Boonsboro. The competition gave seniors from eight nursing homes and assisted-living facilities a chance to participate in physical activities and to build friendships.

Thumbs up to the roughly 60 students who participated last weekend in  the Waynesboro Area Senior High School mini-thon. The students stayed on their feet for seven hours during the fundraiser for The Four Diamonds Fund and pediatric cancer patients at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.

Thumbs down to the person who stole a tractor-trailer with about $41,000 worth of groceries from a Food Lion distribution center in Pennsylvania earlier this month. The tractor-trailer contained such items as carrot cake, coconut cake, various types of filling, sweet relish, dark chocolate fudge and frosting, police said.
