Mrs. Marguerite R. "Marge" Ridenour, 90, a resident of Coffman Nursing Home, Hagerstown, Md., and formerly of 168 Antietam Drive, Waynesboro, Pa., passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at the nursing home.
Born Sept. 18, 1921, in Clear Spring, Md., she was the daughter of the late Herbert R. and Lydia (Shank) McAllister.
Mrs. Ridenour was a graduate of Clear Spring High School with the Class of 1939.
She and her husband, the late Mr. David W. "Jack" Ridenour, were married Jan. 15, 1946, at St. Paul's United Brethren Church, Hagerstown. They lived in Port Richey, Fla., for seven years, moving to their Antietam Drive address in 2000. Mr. Ridenour passed away on March 16, 2005.
Mrs. Ridenour was employed as a salesperson at Worth's Clothing, Waynesboro, for many years. Prior to her retirement in 1975, she was a salesperson at Gay's Jewelry Store, Waynesboro, which was owned and operated by her husband.
She enjoyed fishing with her husband, hunting, dogs, dining out, traveling and trips through the mountains. She was known for her interior design, especially window designs for her husband's store, and was a gourmet cook in every manner.
Mrs. Ridenour was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro.
She is survived by her brother, Jack McAllister of Clear Spring; her sister, Geraldine Land of Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Ridenour was preceded in death by a sister, Vera Wishard; and three brothers, Ned McAllister, Gerald McAllister and Richard McAllister.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 21, in Green Hill Cemetery, 953 S. Potomac St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. Mark Shover officiating.
