First-graders collecting change to plant tree

May 17, 2012|Cathy Grantham | Around Maugansville

The first-graders at Maugansville Elementary School are studying their environment.

To celebrate their learning, they would like to buy a tree for the Ruritan Community Park.

Last year, several trees were lost in the park as a result of severe storms. Since the Ruritan Club has always been a great partner with the school, the first-graders would like to help.

The community can help by contributing any loose change to their tree fund.

Funds will be collected through May 25 and can be dropped off at Maugansville Creamery, Holsinger’s Meat Market, Hair Changes, the Waffle House on Maugans Avenue or the school.
The students would like to thank the community in advance for helping them make the Earth a greener place.
