Ballet and All That Jazz to hold annual recital

Dancers from the Ballet and All That Jazz dance studio in Hagerstown will participate in the annual recital Saturday.

The 2 p.m. show features those ages 3 to 10 and the 7 p.m. show features the intermediate and advanced dancers. 

The types of dance include modern, jazz, tap, hip-hop and classical ballet.

The school is highlighting 13 graduating seniors each with their own dance solo.  

Under the direction of Ranelle W. Flurie, the school was established in 1989 and will offer summer classes and dance camps in June. 

Tickets for each show cost $5 and may be purchased by calling The Maryland Theatre box office at 301-797-2000.



Dance planned at Morris Frock

The local variety band Spectrum will provide the music for a springtime dance at Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 Saturday from 7:30 to 11 p.m.

Tickets cost $10 and will be available at the door.

The dance will be the kickoff for the Pen Mar Park summer music season.

There will be a 50-50 raffle with all proceeds going to Pen Mar Park.

TOPS 0077  

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077 achieved losses of 28 1/4 pounds for the week. 

Charles House and Barb Trumpower were the best TOPS losers. Deloris Hays and Mildred Hluchy were the best KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) losers.

Jean Hart won the ha-ha prize. The no-no snack for the week is doughnuts.

 The Good Lookers team won the weekly team weight loss challenge with a loss of 10 pounds. The Star Power team with 7 3/4 pounds lost was second for the last two weeks. 

Winners of the April contest were Linda Siebert for KOPS and JoAnn S. for TOPS. 


Trumpower gave her Pound Puppy to JoAnn S.

Trumpower presented the program on “What You Eat for Breakfast Can Make or Break Your Day.” She said you can’t go wrong with a mixture that includes a protein, oatmeal with milk, fruit, nuts or seeds and coffee or tea. She also read a report detailing the health benefits of consuming one tablespoon of lemon juice in your daily diet.

The North Hagerstown High Class of 1982 will hold its 30th reunion Sept. 21 and 22.

Concert planned at church Sunday

Mount Zion Church, at 14336 Greencastle Pike, invites the community to a concert given by Back Creek Valley Boys bluegrass gospel singers Sunday at 2 p.m.

Refreshments will be served.

A goodwill offering will be collected for the group during a short intermission. For those who would like to make a contribution for cemetery maintenance, a basket will be placed in the front of the church.
