Martinsburg police seize pistol from 15-year-old juvenile

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Police in Martinsburg seized a semiautomatic pistol and marijuana Thursday from a 15-year-old juvenile during a traffic stop, Martinsburg police said.

The juvenile, a passenger in the car that was stopped about 5 p.m. in the 100 block of East Race Street, was taken into custody for carrying a concealed weapon, a Kel-Tec .380 handgun, and being a minor in possession of firearm, according to a news release from Martinsburg Police Department.

The pistol, which was found in the juvenile's waistband, was later determined to have been stolen, police said.

The juvenile was taken to Vicki V. Douglas Juvenile Center after an emergency preliminary petition was signed by a state magistrate, police said.

The following incidents were reported by Franklin County (Pa.) Emergency Services:


  • At 7:44 p.m., a fire alarm was reported in the 300 block of East Seminary Street in Mercersburg.
  • At 7:46 p.m., a fire alarm was reported in the 1500 block of Northfield Drive in Greene Township.
  • At 9:05 p.m., a house fire was reported in the 300 block of Holswart Drive in Southampton Township.
  • At 9:34 p.m., a lost person was reported on the Appalachian Trail.


  • At 2:17 a.m., a fire alarm was reported in the 12700 block of Buchanan Trail East in Washington Township.
