Leslie Hart nominated for Schaefer award

HAGERSTOWN — Leslie Hart, agricultural marketing specialist for the Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission, has been nominated for the inaugural 2012 William Donald Schaefer Helping People Award.

The program was created to recognize individuals and organizations in each county and Baltimore City who best exemplify Schaefer’s lifelong commitment to helping people.

Hart was nominated by Brien Poffenberger, president of the Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce, in recognition of her dedicated service to the Hagerstown community.
 
Criteria for nomination includes the following: demonstration of improving the community; swiftly solving a citizen problem through effective government intervention; directly aiding the most vulnerable in society; or creating a public/private partnership to improve the lives of Marylanders.

Hart is a lifelong resident of Washington County. She is a graduate of Mountain State University, holding a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership.

As agricultural marketing specialist, Hart is responsible for developing, marketing and managing economic development strategies and implementing marketing programs to attract, retain, preserve, and grow agricultural enterprises and related industries in Washington County.

Hart’s role is to connect local residents and consumers to agriculture, and agriculture to local residents and consumers.
