Saturday yard sale at WHS canceled

Due to the deaths of two Williamsport High School students, the Williamsport Blue Band Boosters have canceled their annual Yard Sale Extravaganza, which was to be held Saturday. 

The boosters appreciate the community’s continued support of events and hope that residents will go to their mini-yard sale during the annual Van Lear neighborhood yard sale Saturday, May 19, from 8 a.m. to noon at 10607 August Court in Williamsport.

All of the donated items will be on sale at that time.

Deaf Awareness Day to be held at mall Friday 

Deaf Awareness Day will be held Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Valley Mall.

The event is sponsored by Deafnet Association Inc.

There will be displays promoting the concerns that affect the deaf and hard of hearing. A town hall meeting is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Blue Band Night planned

Chick-fil-A and the Williamsport Blue Band Boosters invite the community to Blue Band Night on Wednesday, May 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. at 1680 Wesel Blvd. in Hagerstown. Chick-fil-A will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Blue Band Boosters.

Spring concert planned

Students at Hickory Elementary School will perform their spring concert Tuesday, May 15, at 6 p.m.

Grandparents Day to be held at Hickory

Grandparents of students who attend Hickory Elementary School are invited to attend Grandparents Visitation Day Friday, May 18, from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m. Grandparents will not be permitted to take children home, unless a signed note from the legal guardian/parent listed on the child’s emergency card is provided.

Police Appreciation Day set for May 19 at mall

Police Appreciation Day will be held Saturday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Valley Mall.

There will be demonstrations and police vehicles on hand. A site to dispose of prescription drugs will be available along with document shredding and other police-related activities.

A K-9 demonstration will also be held along with a deputy sheriff  and detention center recruitment display.

Time to honor mom

Sunday will mark a special day on the calendar for those dear family members we call mom. Thank you, Mom, for guiding me, loving me, encouraging me and allowing me to grow to be the woman I am today. Happy Mother’s day to you. I love you with all of my heart.


Happy anniversary

I just wanted to take a moment to wish my husband, Nick, a happy 13th wedding anniversary Tuesday, May 15.

I am so thankful to be lucky enough to be married to my best friend. Thank you for blessing me with our two beautiful sons and so many wonderful memories. I’m looking forward to many more years together. Wishing you a very happy anniversary, Nick.
