VILLANOVA, Pa. — The following area students were named to the dean’s list at Villanova University:

  • Alexis Carpenter of Frederick, Md., Villanova School of Business
  • Ashley Chan of Walkersville, Md., College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
  • C. Nathan Ober of Hagerstown, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
  • Kelsey Quinn of Mount Airy, Md., College of Liberal Arts and Sciences,
  • Remington Yee of Frederick, Villanova School of Business


CHARLESTON, S.C. — Seventy-three cadets and active-duty military students were chosen by The Citadel faculty members as the Class of 2012 Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

 The following students were recognized during the annual Commencement Week Awards Convocation May 3:
  • Patrick H. Riley of Walkersville, Md., is a member of Delta Co. who is majoring in chemistry.
  • Alexander Wade Morgan of Frederick, Md., is a member of Romeo Co. who is majoring in English.
  • Whitney Monika Nave of Greencastle, Pa., is a member of Tango Co. who is majoring in physical education.


MILLERSVILLE, Pa. — The following area students were recognized during Millersville University of Pennsylvania’s Honors and Awards Convocation April 28:
  • Allison A. Chew of Union Bridge, Md., a member of the women’s softball team, received the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete Award.
  • Emily R. Copenhaver of Greencastle, Pa., received the Margaret V. Farster and James R. Farster Scholarship.
  • Kelsey B. Gearhart of Waynesboro, Pa., a member of the women’s volleyball team, received the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete Award.
  • Gillian G. Hollen of Waynesboro received the Carol J. Myers Music Educators Award.
  • Jenna L. Lininger of Waynesboro received the Class of 1951 Scholarship.
  • Korbin T. Shoemaker of Chambersburg, Pa., received the J. Richard Steinmetz Technology Teaching Award.
  • Sarah M. Signore of Waynesboro, a member of the women’s softball team, received the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete Award.
  • Amanda M. VanDixon of Shippensburg, Pa., received the Athletic Coaching Minor Faculty Award and the Student of Academic Distinction Award.
  • Carrie B. Yeatts of Mercersburg, Pa., received the Student of Academic Distinction Award.
