Martinsburg man charged after another loses an ear in fight

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A Martinsburg man faces charges after police say he bit off another man’s ear in a fight Tuesday night, according to a news release.

Robert E. Tarmon, 35, of 732 W. King St., was charged Tuesday night with malicious wounding and was taken to Eastern Regional Jail, where he was to be arraigned, Martinsburg police said.

Martinsburg Police Department officer D.P. North said in a news release that he was flagged down at 6:30 p.m. by a woman who told him about a fight in progress at the West King Street address.

North and other officers then made contact with a man who was bleeding from the side of his head and was missing his left ear, police said.

The man told police his ear was bitten off.

After speaking with witnesses and the man, officers went to the West King Street address and arrested Tarmon.

Police said Tarmon’s white shirt had blood on it.

No other information was available about the victim.
