Washington County Free Library upgrading catalog system

May 05, 2012

Washington County Free Library has announced it will be upgrading to Polaris, a new catalog and checkout system, on May 24.

Customers will be able to receive library notices by text message, keep a list of their reading history, have more options in managing their accounts online and enjoy other capabilities.

The interface for searching the library’s collection is very user-friendly, and placing holds is easy.

In preparation for the change, the library has declared a “Point of No Returns.” No checked-out items will be due between May 18 and June 5. Customers can help with the transition by keeping library materials at home until their due date.

In addition, there will be no catalog system from May 18 to 23, although the library will be open during that time. During those six days, if you want to check something out, be sure to bring your library card — other forms of identification cannot be used. The library’s website, databases and online books will continue to work normally throughout the transition.
