Spring is a wonderful time of year
To the editor:
Oh, what a beautiful time of year … gets our five senses just tingling, doesn’t it? The beautiful colors; the smell of flowers and fresh grass; the taste of the famous Easter desserts; the feel of the grass, soft as a carpet under your feet; and the sound of the birds chirping. Our hearts sing with the real reason of the Easter holiday. Hallelujah, Christ is risen!
We have such nice small communities where people still care. We were blessed by being participants with many groups over the Easter weekend — American Legion Auxiliary, Troop 51 Boy Scouts, Sharpsburg Bible Church, Battlefield sunrise service, and St. James Brethren Church. I just wanted to thank them all.
And I can’t forget the Southeastern Senior Group. They wanted to have some fun and had an egg hunt for adults. You had to be sure to stand out of the way of people who use a walker and yet run like the wind — even the Easter Bunny became a target.
Would you believe that some people actually think of seniors as “old?” We forgive them since they don’t have the wisdom yet to know how to be nice. Don’t let the name “senior” confuse you. We not only get wiser, but we get a discount at restaurants. So there, eat your heart out. Some may have snow on the roof but, believe me, their fire is still there. The teasing banter as they throw horseshoes or bean bags. The laughter can be heard for miles. They are friends, they are there for one another, something everyone should learn. Life is a gift, and it’s short — so enjoy it!
