Doris "Maxine" Malcolm, 88

Doris "Maxine" Malcolm, 88, of Fort Ashby, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 3, 2012. She had been living in Ohio at the time with her daughter. Linda was by her side as she passed.

Born Feb. 27, 1924, to the late Paul H. Klein and Nannie G. Klein of Frostburg, Md. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Paul W. Malcolm; her daughter-in-law Virginia "Carol" Malcolm; and her great-granddaughter, Alaina Nicole Malcolm.

She graduated from Fort Ashby High School. She was a member of the Lions Club, the VFW and DAR. She enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years. Her life was dedicated to her family that she dearly loved! Maxine also spent many years of her life caring for her parents, husband and children. Home to Maxine meant homemade pies, bread and canning many fruits and vegetables from the family garden. Sewing was also something that she enjoyed. She loved us all and we all loved her; she will surely be missed!!

She is survived by one son, Paul W. Malcolm Jr. and his companion Edna Carbaugh of Hagerstown, Md.; two daughters, Sandra K. Glass and her husband David of Thurmont, Md., and Linda L. Laird of Uniontown, Ohio; several grandchildren, Deron S. Malcolm and his wife Tracey of Smithsburg, Md., Matthew W. Malcolm and his wife Jennifer of Hagerstown, Beth Zastoripil and her husband Steve, and Wesley Glass and his wife Traci; five great-grandchildren, Payton, Delaney and Parker Malcolm, children of Deron and Tracey, and Dalton and Emah Malcolm, children of Matt and Jennifer.

Services will be Monday, May 7, 2012, at Upchurch Funeral Home in Fort Ashby at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Fort Ashby Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Upchurch Funeral Home in Fort Ashby from 5 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Lioness Club of Fort Ashby or to VFW Post 6667.
