Breakfast planned at Ebenezer AME Church

The Men of Ebenezer AME Church, 26 W. Bethel St., will hold a breakfast Saturday, from 7 to 11 a.m. 

The menu includes eggs, bacon, sausage, gravy, fried potatoes and onions, biscuit, juice or coffee. 

The meal costs $6. It will be eat in, take out, or delivery.

Fitness program

On Saturday, a walkathon will be held at Zion Baptist Church, starting at 8:30 a.m.

The event will be the kickoff of the church’s fitness program. The event will be a five-mile walk through the city of Hagerstown.

The program continues Monday at 6 p.m. at Fairgrounds Park. The park walk will be every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m.

The community is invited.



Achievers say thanks

The Hagerstown YMCA Achievers would like to say thank you to the following individuals and organizations who contributed to the program:

Meals offered

Second Christian Church, at 65 W. North Ave., will host a food sale Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The menu includes fried chicken with potato salad, fried fish with macaroni and cheese, or turkey salad on lettuce, deviled eggs and a pickle. The meals include green beans, rolls, soda or water, cake or pie or cherry cobbler.

The meals cost $8. It will be eat in or carryout.

Blossom School

The Blossom School of Etiquette will present “12 Steps to Ladyhood,” a monthly seminar series for those ages 7 to 17, starting Saturday, May 12, from 1 to 3 p.m. at 2 Public Square (MAIA Modeling Agency).

The first session will discuss social networking and how to stay safe on Facebook, Twitter, texting, MySpace, LinkedIn, etc.

There will also be gifts/drawings, and light refreshments will be served.

Alumni group to meet

The South Hagerstown High School Rebel Alumni Association will meet Thursday, May 10, at 7 p.m. in the school’s media center.

Items to be discussed are the winners of the 2012 scholarships, the annual benefit golf tournament scheduled for June 14 at Beaver Creek Country Club, and a casual alumni gathering at the Cancun Cantina on June 15.  

All graduates of South High are welcome to attend.



Book Club

The Sisters-on-the-Spirit Book Club will hold its next meeting Sunday, May 20.

The book to be discussed is “Can I Be Me,” by Esther Armah.
