 ELKINS, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins College junior Colby Fisher was named Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 22, by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

A sport management major, Fisher is the son of Jim and Vicki Fisher of Hagerstown. Fisher helped lead the Senators to a 5-1 victory against California (Pa.) who was ranked fifth in the region at the time.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — The weekend of April 27 and 28, Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania hosted the semi- annual Dance Concert in the Sloan Fine Arts Auditorium.

One of the students performing in the concert was Chambersburg, Pa., resident Zachary L. Andrews, a junior majoring in criminal justice.

FROSTBURG, Md. — Frostburg State University student Britany Poindexter of Myersville, Md., will present her junior soprano vocal recital, accompanied by Sean Beachy, on Sunday, May 13, at 5 p.m. at Pealer Recital Hall in FSU’s Performing Arts Center. The recital is free and open to the public.

 A major in FSU’s Department of Music, Poindexter studies voice with Mariana Mihai-Zoeter and previously studied with Karen Soderberg.

She is a member of University Chorale, Chamber Choir, Vocal Jazz Ensemble and Opera Theatre.

A 2007 graduate of Middletown (Md.) High School, Poindexter expects to graduate in May 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance.

She is the daughter of Kenneth and Kathryn Poindexter of Myersville.

Poindexter plans to attend graduate school for voice, and eventually one day perform with an opera company, as well as teach voice and opera at the collegiate level.

SUMMERDALE, Pa. —  The following area students were named to the dean’s list for the winter term at Central Penn College:

 Shaki Wilson of Chambersburg, Pa., majoring in corporate communications

 Lorrie Timmons of Shippensburg, Pa., majoring in criminal justice administration

 Megan Williams of Greencastle, Pa., majoring in criminal justice administration

 Michael Williford of Mount Airy, Md., majoring in homeland security management

HUNTINGTON, Ind. — The 41st annual Huntington University Forester Night celebrated the accomplishments of students from across campus, as well as the recognition of the Foresters of the Year, the 2012 Outstanding Scholar Award, the Impact Initiative Scholarship and the Professor of the Year.

The event was held May 1.

Jen Cramer, a senior sociology and psychology major from Shippensburg, Pa., was honored with the Outstanding Senior Award for psychology. The awards are voted on by faculty. Recipients were presented plaques for their accomplishments.

ANNVILLE, Pa. — Lebanon Valley College inducted 110 students to its chapter of Phi Alpha Epsilon, an academic and service honor society.

Area inductees include:

 Aaron Mills of Hagerstown, a senior biology major.

 Nikole Mannherz of Frederick, Md., a senior elementary education major.

In addition, the following area students were honored at Lebanon Valley College’s annual spring awards and recognition ceremony on April 19:

 Brittany Flood of Fayetteville, Pa., a junior art and art history major, received the Mund Scholarship.

 Aaron Mills of Hagerstown, a senior biology major, received the O. Pass Bollinger Environmental Biology Award.

 Andrew Suprock of Mount Airy, Md., a junior physics major, received the Alumni Scholarship.

LEXINGTON, Va.Evelyn Rupert of Frederick, Md., a member of the Class of 2014 at Washington and Lee University, has earned honor roll status for the recently ended winter 2012 term.
