MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, along with a number of other candidates for statewide office in the 2012 election, is expected to attend the Berkeley County Women’s Democratic Club annual fundraising dinner Friday night.
Tickets for the 6 p.m. event, which will held at the Holiday Inn in Martinsburg, are $35.
Before the dinner, Manchin, D-W.Va., will be campaigning throughout the day in Berkeley and Jefferson counties, beginning at the Berkeley County Senior Center in Martinsburg at 11:30 a.m., according to his campaign.
At 1 p.m., Manchin is scheduled to visit the Martin & Seibert law firm at 1453 Winchester Ave., for a “meet and greet,” and then travel to Shepherdstown to tour the new town hall and visit with merchants there, according to his campaign.
Manchin then is expected to toss out the first pitch at Washington High School’s baseball game in Charles Town about 3:45 p.m. and make a few comments there before returning to Martinsburg.
Beginning at about 4:45 p.m., Manchin is expected to be in downtown Martinsburg to meet with merchants and visit the newly redesigned town square. The senator’s scheduled stops include DeFluri’s Fine Chocolate and Peking Restaurant, where residents are invited to meet with the senator, according to his campaign.
At the fundraising dinner, U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh is expected to be presented with an outstanding achievement award.
Secretary of State Natalie Tennant is slated to give the keynote address.
