Classic car cruise-in to be held Friday

The classic car cruise-in moves back to East Potomac Street on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.

Teddy Miller will entertain with his Elvis tribute show. Pictures taken with the Easter bunny and not picked up yet will be available.

A donation of $3 is requested. The event benefits local charities. The rain date is Friday, May 11.

Cinco de Mayo event planned at St. Mark’s

A Cinco de Mayo festival will be held at the Parish Hall of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 18313 Lappans Road, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will feature a Mariachi singer, Cumbia band, belly dancers performing a sword dance, drumstick dance, and Zumba by licensed instructors. DJ Negro will provide Cinco de Mayo music.

Light refreshments will be served.

Those ages 13 and older are invited to attend for a $10 donation. Children must be accompanied by a parent and a $5 donation per child is requested. Proceeds will go to St. Mark’s building fund.

McTeacher’s Night planned at McDonald’s

Teachers and administrators at Springfield Middle School will hold a McTeacher’s Night at the Williamsport McDonald’s restaurant Monday, May 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. 

It is a partnership between McDonald’s and Springfield Middle in which teachers and administrators will work at the fast-food restaurant to help raise money for the AVID, or Advancement Via Individual Determination, program at the school. 

AVID is a college prep program that typically helps the underserved reach their fullest potential. 

The program will receive 20 percent from sales that evening. 



Masonic lodge to hold open house

On Saturday, the Medairy Masonic Lodge of Williamsport will hold an open house for anyone interested in Masonry, as part of a statewide Masonic open house.

The open house will last all day, beginning at 9 a.m., at the lodge. Lodge brethren will be available to answer questions about Masonry for those interested in membership. The lodge is at 2 Milestone Terrace in Williamsport, off U.S. 11.



Clothes of Hope schedule for May

Clothes of Hope Ministries at Williamsport United Methodist Church, 25 E. Church St., provides gently used and some new clothing.

It will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday; Thursday, May 10 and 24; and Monday, May 14. It will be open from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, May 7 and 21; and Thursday, May 17.

There is no charge for clothing. Monetary donations are accepted.



Zumba classes in session at church

Spring and summer Zumba classes are in session at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 18313 Lappans Road, and will run through the third week of August.

Classes will be held Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, beginning at 5:30 and 6:45 p.m.

A 15-class punch card costs $30 and can be used at any class. Individuals are welcome to drop in anytime throughout the session.

Zumba is dance exercise to Latin music.
