Court hearing postponed for Franklin County man in prison for wife's fatal shooting

Christopher T. Jones is asking to withdraw his plea based on ineffective trial counsel

May 01, 2012

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — A court hearing for a Franklin County, Pa., man sentenced last year in his wife’s fatal shooting was rescheduled on Tuesday.

Because a transportation order was not filed, Christopher T. Jones was not brought to the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas from the state correctional institution where he is serving a six- to 14-year prison sentence, Judge Shawn Meyers said.

Jones, 33, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of his wife, Kristin Runyon. He contended he thought she was an intruder in the 5 a.m. darkness at their St. Thomas Township, Pa., home on Feb. 25, 2010.

Now, Jones is asking to withdraw his plea based on ineffective trial counsel, according to court records.
Meyers rescheduled Tuesday’s hearing to July 13.
