Anna Rae Banzhoff, 82, of Hagerstown, died April 29, 2012, at her home.
Born July 1, 1929, in Pinesburg, Md., she was the daughter of the late William Edgar and Hazel Virginia McCardell Gossard.
She was a life member and 50-year member of Court Hagerstown of the Catholic Daughters of America; and also a member of the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hagerstown. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She was a graduate of Williamsport High School, Class of 1947.
She loved to read and crochet.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Banzhoff Sr.; three children, Robert L. Banzhoff Jr. and wife, Thelma, of Hagerstown, Diana J. Banzhoff and husband, Christopher Zajac, of Baltimore, and Mary L. Reichert of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren, Kenneth B. Banzhoff and wife, Julie, Robert L. Banzhoff III, Elizabeth A. Dayhoff and husband, Gerald, George J. Reichert IV, Jared E. Reichert, Joseph C. Zajac, John R. Zajac, Leonard M. Zajac and Rebecca M. Zajac; four great-grandchildren, Shelby E. Resh, Trace V. Banzhoff, Andrew C. Dayhoff and Olivia E. Dayhoff; a sister-in-law, Donna Jean Moon Gossard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Helen T. Dorman Gossard; and a brother, William E. Gossard.
A Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 32 E. Potomac St., Williamsport, Md. The Rev. George A. Limmer will be celebrant. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
