Arthur L. Rossman, 87, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully from his life to the next on Saturday, April 28, 2012, with his family by his side at the Martinsburg Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Born April 12, 1925, in Tilghmanton, Md., he was the son of the late Sadie (Smith) Rossman.

Arthur was a veteran of the U.S. Army 26th Infantry Division, serving during World War II. He was an American hero and earned a Purple Heart for his bravery. Arthur was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge. The patriotism he learned in the Army never left him, as friends and family will attest.

Arthur had worked as a manager at Hub Dry Cleaning. He had also worked for Fairchild Aircraft and North Bay Distributors. In his later years, he worked at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Hagerstown.

He was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boonsboro and American Legion Post No. 202.

Surviving him are his loving wife of more than 60 years, Edna Mae (Mort) Rossman; two sons, Robert Lee Rossman and wife, Deborah, and Gary W. Rossman and wife, Carol Ann; a daughter, Donna Kay Davis and husband, Dean; three grandchildren, Michael Scott Rossman and wife, J.C., Ryan Brock Rossman and wife, Nadia, and Michele Renee Dean and husband, Langley; and four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Shyanne Dean, Skylar Maye Dean, Allison Grace Rossman and Rylee Jean Rossman.

Arthur will be remembered as a loving husband and father. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and neighbors.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Mark C. Mooney officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
