Leroy A. Eckstine, 84, of Lehmans Mill Road in Hagerstown, Md., passed away Friday, April 27, 2012, at Western Maryland Hospital Center in Hagerstown.

Born April 22, 1928, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Roy A. and Blanche (Wolfinger) Eckstine.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan C. (Kline) Eckstine, on June 30, 1989.

He attended Paramount area schools.

He retired from Frick Co. in Waynesboro, Pa., after 32 years of service.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hagerstown.

He is survived by daughters, Ruth Pulier and Nancy Mowen, both of Hagerstown; sons, Allen Eckstine and Walter Eckstine, both of Hagerstown, and Mark Eckstine of Waynesboro; brother, Harold Eckstine of Hagerstown; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by granddaughter, Mary Edna Eckstine; and great-grandson, Alex Ryan Hazel.

Services will be Monday, April 30, 2012, at 11 a.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, Md., with Pastor Clark D. Carr officiating. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Leroy's burial fund, in care of Allen Eckstine, 20211 Lehmans Mill Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
