Washington County jobless rate fell to 8.2 percent in March

Washington County’s jobless rate plummeted to 8.2 percent in March, a decrease from February’s adjusted rate of 9.3 percent, according to state figures released Friday.

It is the lowest the county rate has been since November 2011, when it also dipped to 8.2 percent. It’s a decline from one year ago in March, when the jobless rate was at 10.2 percent.

In Washington County, 5,607 members of the labor force were without jobs in March, compared to 6,387 in February, the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation website said.

The labor force in March consisted of 68,590 people, down from 68,672 in February, according to DLLR figures.
