WILLIAMSPORT — Amber Forrest tossed a one-hitter and allowed just one unearned run to lead Clear Spring in a five-inning MVAL Antietam rout of Williamsport.

Forrest helped her own cause with a solo homer in the first, Heather Schlotterbeck had four hits, including two doubles, and Sarah Elwood and Courtney Royce had two hits each for the the Blazers (12-1, 10-1).

Emily Taylor had the lone hit for the Wildcats (3-9).

MERCERSBURG, Pa. — Sydney Reath hurled a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts to lead Mercersburg Academy in a rout of Maryland School for the Deaf.

Reath also had three hits, including a two-run homer, five RBIs and scored four runs, and Abby Hopple had four hits, two RBIs and scored three runs for the Blue Storm (8-6).

FREDERICK, Md. — J.R. Rhinehart struck out 12 in a complete game and James Shifler had two hits, two RBIs and two stolen bases for Smithsburg in a win over Oakdale.

Brock Heiston had two hits, Ryan Bolton had two hits and two stolen bases and Devin Baker had an RBI double and scored two runs for the Leopards.

Mike Ewing had a hat trick and two assists to lead St. Maria Goretti past Boonsboro.

Graham Horst had a goal and an assist, Jake Kline and Wyatt Derr each had a goal, Morgan Kenworthy had an assist and 13 ground balls and Mike Fairley had nine saves for the Gaels (5-8).

Sidwell Friends 11, Saint James 4

WASHINGTON —  Leighton Younger had two goals for Saint James in a loss to Sidwell Friends.

Ben Louderback had a goal, Kyle Neale had a goal and an assist and Will Smith had 10 saves for the Saints (5-6).



GIRLS LACROSSE

Foxcroft School 12, Saint James 10

MIDDLEBURG, Va. — Foxcroft School scored three goals in the final six minutes to pull out a victory over Saint James.

Margaret Bacon and Madison Sahuy each scored three goals and added one assist for the Saints (5-4). Lena Tilsworth and Grace Sulton had two goals each.

Kate Sweeney had nine saves in goal for Saint James.

Boonsboro 16, Smithsburg 14

BOONSBORO — Courtney Ridenour had five goals to lead Boonsboro past Smithsburg.

Tori Poffenberger had four goals and two assists, Claudia Jenkins had three goals, Alex Green had two goals, Emily Lum had a goal, Natalie Pitts had two assists, Natalie Young had an assist and Maeve Windsor had 11 saves for the Warriors (4-4).

Taylor Cline scored a game-high six goals, Nadia Gutierrez had three goals and an assist, Dominique Dilandro had three goals, Brooke Penwell and Emily Seward each had a goal, Sarah Thompson had an assist and Taylor Stauffer had 11 saves for the Leopards (1-7).

CRESAPTOWN, Md. — Rachel Clarke scored the winning goal off a corner kick in overtime to lead Heritage Academy in a Mason Dixon Christian Conference win over Calvary Christian.

Stephanie O’Brien had a goal and two assists, Bethany Powell had a goal, Nicole Gaylor had an assist and Clarke had nine saves for the Eagles (4-3-1).

Mikayla Ultis had two goals for the Flames.

Chris Kulik had four hits and three RBIs to lead Hagerstown  in a rout of Montgomery Germantown that was called after seven innings due to the 10-run rule.

Jacob Kenney and Andrew Zeger had three hits and three RBIs each, Eric Schanzenbacher had three hits and Drew DeShong had two hits and two RBIs for the Hawks (25-24).

Byers signs

Tyler Byers, a senior at Williamsport High School, has signed a letter of intent to play baseball next year at Glenville State.

Byers, an All-Washington County selection last year, is a pitcher/first baseman. Glenville State is a Division II school competing in the West Virginia Conference.
