Eileen Louise "Inie" (Shaw) Rider, 79, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, April 22, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born Jan. 25, 1933, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Ragan and Viola (Wolf) Shaw.

Eileen attended Hagerstown High School and went on to travel with Olan Mills, where she helped with booking and modeling.

She had worked as the owner and operator of Lauren's Tavern in Hagerstown for many years.

She was a member of the Goodwill Little Club in Hagerstown. She loved to garden and feed wild birds. She was very good at crossword puzzles and bowled in various leagues in her younger years.

Eileen will be remembered as a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother. She was a very generous person. Her friends and family were very important to her.

Surviving her are two daughters, Kathy Persinger, Karen Gladfelter and husband, Todd; two brothers, Ragan Shaw Jr. and wife, Ecile, Floyd Shearer Jr. and wife, Sonja; two grandchildren, Alex Persinger and Alecia O'Brien-Gladfelter, both of Hagerstown; a devoted friend, "Peachy" of Hagerstown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Bud Rider; an infant son, Ronald Rider; two sisters, Kathleen Stitzel and Josephine Weaver; and a son-in-law to whom she was very close, Ben Persinger.

A funeral service will be conducted at noon on Friday, April 27, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Clark Carr officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Family members would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff in the critical care unit at Meritus Medical Center.
