Coffman to hold purse auction, luncheon

Coffman Nursing Home will hold its annual purse auction and luncheon Saturday, May 12.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon.

The lunch menu includes stuffed chicken breast, baby baked potatoes, vegetable blend, assorted desserts and beverages.

There will be raffles and door prizes.

Tickets cost $10 each.

Zumba classes offered

The Washington County Recreation Department will offer Zumba classes at Pangborn Elementary School on Saturday mornings, starting May 12 and ending Aug. 11.


Classes will be held from 8 to 8:45 a.m.

The classes cost $25 for county residents and $30 for nonresidents. They cost $20 for those ages 55 and older.

Yard sale planned

Salem Reformed Church will hold a yard sale in its family life center Saturday, April 28, beginning at 8 a.m.  Proceeds will help defray the cost of the youth work mission trip this summer.

Food will be available for sale for lunch.

The church is at 13182 Salem Church Road, off Cearfoss Pike.

Losses for the week totaled 26 1/4 pounds for TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077.

JoAnn S. and Louise Horst were the best TOPS losers. Lu M. and Mary Jo Cunningham were the best KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) losers.

The no-no snack for the week is soda.

Several chapter members attended state recognition days in Ocean City, Md., on April 13 and 14. They reported back to the members on events, programs and challenges. Several chapter members received awards. 

Mary Jo Cunningham presented the program on dancing to lose weight. 

Valerie Eccard was recognized for her recent weight loss. Carol LeClaire was chosen as picnic committee leader.
