Hyliene Beatrice Viola (Hardey) Tusing, 100, passed from this life Friday, April 20, 2012, at Williamsport Retirement Village.

Born Jan. 16, 1912, in Garrett's Mill, Md., she was the daughter of the late William Bruce and Mary Elizabeth (Seeler) Hardey. Her husband, Anthony W. Tusing, preceded her in death on March 21, 1992.

She was a graduate of Boonsboro High School. She lived along Lappans Road in Boonsboro for 56 years, and 10 years at Town Oak Village in Hagerstown.

She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Lappans, Md., where she had formerly been a member of the Altar Guild and also grew zinnias for the church altar. She will be fondly remembered for her hobbies — gardening, reading, sewing, art and traveling.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara E. Forsythe of Hagerstown; two sons, Charles L. Tusing and wife, Eileen, of Hagerstown, and Robert L. Tusing of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Randy L. Tusing, Patty A. Forsythe, Lisa A. Hinson, Karen S. Tusing, Deanna L. Karn, Denise D. Price and Kimberley S. Booth; one great-grandson, Trevor A. Price; and two sisters, Irene B. (Hardey) Abbott Weltz of Keedysville and Imogene B. (Hardey) Reeder of Hagerstown.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, William Anthony Tusing, on Sept. 19, 1989; and her brother, William Seeler Hardey, on Nov. 10, 2001.

A funeral ceremony will be Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Anne O. Weatherholt will officiate. Final resting-place ceremonies will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour before the ceremony at the funeral home.
