Employees of Bank of America Merchant Services recently collected a large amount of items for the Humane Society of Washington County.
On April 3, managers Julie Nicodemus, Jerry Shatzer and Celena Swaim took the donations to the shelter.
Close to 100 employees participated in the collection.
“We ask the staff what type of community projects they would like to do,” Jerry Shatzer said. “A large group answered that they wanted to help the humane society.”
The project was so well received that it went on longer than initially planned.
“We extended the collection through the entire first quarter and everyone continued to bring items,” Nicodemus said. “We are very proud to bring this donation to the shelter.
“We are running extremely low on Pedigree adult and puppy food, Purina cat and kitten chow and clay litter,” said Paul Miller, executive director of the shelter. “This donation was very well timed for us.”
