Craft show at mall

A spring craft show will be held at Valley Mall through Sunday. Vendors and artists will have displays set up during mall hours.

Pop tops collected

During April, Hickory Elementary School students are collecting aluminum can pop tops for donation to the Ronald McDonald house in Baltimore. The facility serves as a home to families who have an ill child and are receiving treatment at nearby Baltimore-area hospitals.

For each pound that Hickory Elementary donates, the facility receives 57 cents. Those wanting to donate are asked to place tabs in a plastic sandwich bag or market bag (after being removed from the aluminum can).

Character Counts!

Each month, one student from each classroom at Hickory Elementary School is designated as Character Counts! Good Citizens of the month. Students are nominated by classroom teachers for demonstrating one of the six pillars of character. Students selected for this award are honored with an ice- cream sundae party and an afternoon of bingo.

The following received the award: Brianna House, Abygail Herrod, Trinity Adams, Layla Kadir, Abby Esser, Blake House, Madelyn Porter, Malayia Brady, John Hubbard, Jordan Rohrer, John Seredich, Thomas Haws, Skyler Koontz, Noah Likely and Jaden Brady.

Muffins for Moms

Moms of students at Hickory Elementary School are invited to attend breakfast Friday. Moms for Muffins will be held at Hickory starting at 8 a.m.

The event will benefit Hagerstown Day Nursery, a nonprofit child development program serving those ages 2 to 5.
