Blasting work to begin to remove rock for W.Va. 480 underpass

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Blasting work to remove rock for a pedestrian underpass on W.Va. 480 at Shepherd University will begin today.

It is estimated that the work will take two weeks. Blasting will occur Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to sunset, according to a university news release.

Up to four short blasts possibly could occur each day during the work. A long siren will precede each blast, and a shorter siren following each blast will provide the “all clear” signal. the release said.

A detour road will be located on the Bavarian Inn property while the work is under way.

C. William Hetzer Inc. is the contractor for the work.
