Seniors Hall of Fame

Washington County residents can nominate volunteers 60 years and older to the 2012 Maryland Senior Citizens Hall of Fame.

Maryland residents who have made outstanding contributions to improve the lives of others in the community are eligible for the award.

The hall inducts 50 nominees each year.

Nomination forms and specific details for eligibility are available by calling Parker Koons at 410-828-5852. Nomination forms must be postmarked by April 30.

• Today — Bingo and trivia, 10 a.m. 

• Friday — Uno and trivia, 10 a.m. 

• Monday, April 23 — Nutrition screening with Lisa McCoy, 9:30 a.m.

Art display

Washington County Public Schools, in partnership with Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, will present the 2012 Washington County Museum of Fine Arts Public School Art Display at the museum from Saturday to Sunday, May 27.

The show will be split between elementary and secondary schools.

The elementary display will feature selected artwork from county elementary schools and will take place between Saturday and Sunday, May 6. 

Judging will occur Friday and the reception will be held at 2 p.m.

The secondary display will feature selected artwork from the county secondary schools and will take place between Saturday, May 12 and Sunday, May 27. 

Judging will occur Friday, May 11, and the reception will be held Sunday, May 13, at 2 p.m.

The show is a tradition started in 1921. The event is free to the public.
