HCC to hold criminal response training drill Saturday

April 17, 2012

HAGERSTOWN — Beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Hagerstown Community College will conduct a criminal response mock-training drill on the college’s main campus.

During the Criminal Response Emergency Assessment Scenario, students from the paramedic emergency services, medical imaging, administration of justice and nursing programs will work together to practice the skills they’ve learned to simulate a variety of incidents similar to what they would normally encounter in the field.

Nursing and health sciences students will have an urgent care, a mock emergency room and a trauma unit set up in the Career Programs Building, through which they will treat a variety of other students posing as patients.

A helicopter will be brought in with a “manikin” — a life-sized anatomical human model. Additional manikins will be used to simulate more advanced traumas.

HCC faculty will oversee all portions of the event.

Parking Lot F will be blocked off from Friday night through Saturday afternoon.
