Hamburg memorial golf tournament planned for April 27

The 12th annual Franklin E. “Wimp” Hamburg Memorial Golf Tournament will be Friday, April 27, at Black Rock Golf Course.

If you would like to sponsor a hole or play in the tournament, call Christi Weaver at 301-432-2758 or Dean Hamburg at 301-992-7228.

All proceeds benefit the “Wimp” Hamburg Scholarship, awarded to eligible Boonsboro High School graduating seniors. Applications for the scholarship are available in the school guidance office.



Indoor yard sale planned this weekend

The Catholic Daughters of St. James Court 2207 in Boonsboro will hold its annual indoor yard sale Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon in the church’s parish hall. 

Baked goods, soups and sandwiches will be sold. On Saturday, yard sale items will cost $2 per bag. 

The church is on the corner of Main Street and Ford Avenue in Boonsboro.

Yard and bake sale set

Benevola United Methodist Church will hold a yard and bake sale Saturday, April 28, from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church.

The church is at 19925 Benevola Church Road, just west of Boonsboro.



Strawberry festival seeks craft vendors

The Rohrersville Ruritan is accepting vendors for the strawberry festival scheduled for June 9 and 10. Craft vendors, flea market vendors and those wishing to set up yard sale items are welcome.

There is no charge to reserve a space, but you must contact J.R. at 240-818-1038 or send an email to lumpymck@myactv.net

Churches, Scouting groups and other groups wishing to perform or help with children’s activities should also contact J.R.  



Fitness classes under way for spring

Body and Soul Fitness classes have started for the spring session.

Classes are held each Monday and Wednesday at Benevola United Methodist Church in Boonsboro.

A class for women only will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and a co-ed class is held from 7 to 8 p.m.

The session began April 11, but there is still time to join. Participants can try the first class for free.

Library news

The Boonsboro Library will host its Afternoon Book Club today at 3 p.m.

The book selection for April is “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.” by Rebecca Skloot. The group will discuss the book and choose next month’s book.
