SHHS golf tournament June 14

The 10th annual South Hagerstown High Benefit Golf Tournament will be Thursday, June 14, at Beaver Creek Country Club, starting at 8:30 a.m.

The tournament costs $300 for foursomes or $75 per golfer. Entry forms are available at Beaver Creek Country Club or online at

Sponsorships are available from $25 to $500.

The purpose of the golf tournament is to raise funds for the South High Alumni Association Scholarship Program, which offers scholarships for graduating students at South High.

Benefit card party

The community is invited to a benefit card party to support the Community Free Clinic of Hagerstown.

The event will be Wednesday at noon at the Women’s Club on Prospect Street in Hagerstown.

The card party costs $12, which includes lunch.


Reservations are due by today and can be made by calling the club at 301-739-0870.

Any kind of card or board game can be played, or just come for lunch.

Susquehanna Bank collecting pet supplies

The Washington County branches of Susquehanna Bank will collect pet supplies through April 27 for the Humane Society of Washington County. 

All 10 branches of Susquehanna Bank will participate in the drive.

Susquehanna Bank has branches in Smithsburg, Boonsboro, Salem Avenue, Fountainhead Plaza, Dual Highway, Halfway, Paramount, Frederick Street, Valley Mall and Hagerstown Financial Center.

Ravens Nest bingo

Tri-State Ravens Nest 12 will hold a baskets, pottery and cash bingo Sunday, April 29, at the Elks Lodge, 11063 Robinwood Drive in Hagerstown.

Doors open at 11 a.m., lunch will be served at noon and bingo starts at 1 p.m.

Tickets cost $25 in advance or $30 at the door. Lunch is included in the ticket price.

There will be 10 basket prizes, 10 pottery prizes and 10 cash prizes. There will also be raffles, tip jars, King Tuts and 50/50s.

Baked goods and sodas will be available for purchase.

Proceeds will benefit the Ravens Nest scholarship fund.

Women’s Club Cookbook

The new Women’s Club Cookbook will debut with a cooking class Wednesday, April 25, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the club.

Several members will demonstrate their recipes and attendees will be able to sample the food.

The class costs $12 dollars and the cookbook will sell for $15. There is a limited number of cookbooks.
