Susquehanna Bank

Michael E. Hough was recently named chief executive officer in the Maryland Division of Susquehanna Bank.

Hough will oversee all banking operations in Maryland, West Virginia, and Bedford, Fulton and Franklin counties in Pennsylvania. Additionally, he is responsible for all large commercial real estate transactions throughout Susquehanna’s four-state market territory.

Hough has offices in Hagerstown and Baltimore.

Hough was previously president of the Maryland Division, and he has more than 22 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry.

A resident of Hagerstown, Hough is active in industry and community organizations, and holds board positions with Community Foundation of Washington County, Maryland Bankers Association, Fountain Head Country Club, Meritus Enterprises Inc. and Hagerstown Regional Airport Commission.

Hough graduated from Madison University with a Bachelor of Science in business administration. He also is a graduate of Leadership Maryland, Leadership Washington County and Maryland Banking School.

VA Medical Center

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Raymond Johnson and Bradley Heishman were the March employees of the month at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg.

The award recognizes employees who not only fulfill their duties, but consistently show cheerfulness, tact, friendliness and understanding to patients and fellow employees.

Johnson has served as a housekeeping aide for four years. He takes pride in his work and cares about staff. Johnson is willing to change his work schedule to accommodate activities and meetings.

Heishman, who was also employee of the month for April 2002, has worked as a staff pharmacist for 11 years. He works quickly and efficiently, and is helpful and courteous to each patient he encounters.

Con-way Freight

GREENCASTLE, Pa. — A Hagerstown resident recently reached a milestone in his career as a truck driver, reaching 2 million miles of safe driving without an accident.

Allan Bryan is a driver sales representative for Con-way Freight, a less-than-truckload freight carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc.

Bryan reached 1 million accident-free miles in August 2002, and has now hit the 2-million-mile mark, according to a news release.

The company plans to recognize his achievement in a ceremony at its Greencastle service center, where Bryan is based.

Bryan has worked for Con-way Freight since 1993, and has been a professional truck driver for 30 years. He typically drives approximately 440 miles per shift, and his route takes him from Hagerstown to Roanoke, Va.

Bryan has been married for 14 years to his wife, Carol, and has one child, Christopher, 13. In his free time, he enjoys skiing and fishing.

In the company’s 28-year history, more than 1,500 Con-way Freight driver sales representatives have reached the 1-million-mile safe driving milestone, while more than 100 have driven 2 million miles accident-free, the  release said.
