Woman, two children taken to hospital after Pa. crash

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. — A woman and two children were taken to Chambersburg Hospital on Wednesday after a crash on Lincoln Way East in Franklin County, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

The crash happened Wednesday at 8:19 p.m. near 7882 Lincoln Way East, police said. The driver of a 1999 Chevrolet Lumina was entering Lincoln Way East from a private drive to the south without first yielding to a 1995 Ford Escort approaching from the west, police said. The Chevrolet struck the Ford, causing disabling damage to both vehicles, police said.

The driver of the Ford, April M. Huff, 32, of Littlestown, Pa., and two passengers, ages 15 and 9, were taken to Chambersburg hospital, police said. Huff had a moderate injury and the passengers had minor injuries, police said.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Vera P. Black, 79, of Chambersburg, had a minor injury, police said. Black received a warning, police said.

Police say Greencastle man kicked parole officer's hand

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Police say a Greencastle, Pa., man kicked the hand of a parole agent who tried to take him into custody Wednesday, then dove through a window in an attempt to escape.

John Michael Trivitt, 29, was taken into custody after another brief struggle, Pennsylvania State Police said in a press release. He was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and resisting arrest, court records show.

The incident happened at 12:30 p.m. at 9296 Gap Road in Quincy Township, where members of the state police, Franklin County Adult Probation, and Pennsylvania State Parole had gone to look for Trivitt, police said.

The parole officer had a minor injury to his hand, police said.

Another man, Robert Morris Barling, 46, of Waynesboro, was arrested on a probation violation and charged with one count of hindering apprehension or prosecution, police said.

Both men were being held Friday at Franklin County Jail.
