Chain-reaction crash on Virginia Avenue sends one person to Meritus Medical Center

April 13, 2012

One person was taken to Meritus Medical Center after a hit-and-run accident that involved four vehicles Friday afternoon in the 17000 block of Virginia Avenue near Hagerstown.

Deputy 1st Class Jason Crawford of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said a brown pickup truck with the words “Roofs are Us” slammed into the rear of a vehicle that was stopped in traffic.

He said the impact caused a chain-reaction crash that involved two other vehicles that also were stopped.

The pickup drove along the shoulder of the roadway and got away, Crawford said.

The driver of the vehicle that initially was struck was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Crawford said anyone with information may call the sheriff’s office at 240-313-2172.
