Lucky 13 money bonanza to be held

The Maugansville Fire Co. will hold a Lucky 13 money bonanza Saturday at Williamsport Fire Hall. Tickets cost $35 per couple. A meal will be served at 6 p.m. The drawing will begin at 7 p.m. The DJ and dance will begin at 9 p.m. and end at midnight.

Vera Bradley and Friends Bingo

On Sunday, a Vera Bradley and Friends Bingo will be held at the Hagerstown Elks Lodge 378 at 11063 Robinwood Drive in Hagerstown.

Doors will open at noon, a meal will be served at 1 p.m. and bingo begins at 2 p.m.

Tickets cost  $25, which includes the meal and 20 regular games. Specials, raffles, drinks and desserts will be available for an additional cost. There are a limited number of tickets. Advance ticket buyers will receive a free raffle ticket.

Maugansville Bible Church to host guest speaker

Maugansville Bible Brethren Church, at 17904 Binkley Ave., will host Creation Ministries International speaker Scott Gillis Sunday at 7 p.m. The topic will be, “Why is There Death and Suffering in the World?”

AAUW to hold annual used book sale

The Hagerstown Branch of the American Association of University Women will hold its annual AAUW Used Book Sale April 19 to 21 in the Arc of Washington County Building at 1000 Florida Ave. in Hagerstown.

The hours for the sale on Thursday and Friday will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Saturday, books will be sold at half price from 9 a.m. to noon, and for $5 a bag from noon to 3 p.m. 

Proceeds from the sale will provide scholarships for local students.

Historical society meeting to be held

The Middleburg/Mason-Dixon Line Historical Society invites the community to attend the next monthly meeting on Thursday, April 19, at 7 p.m. at the State Line Ruritan Building, off U.S. 11 north at the State Line, Pa., Community Park. 

Guest Speaker John Alosi is an author, historian, Vietnam veteran and retired Shippensburg University sports information director.  His program is based on his book “War Birds: A History of the 282nd Signal Pigeon Co.” From photos, interviews and memories of veterans, he has written a history of this unusual Army unit that his father served in during World War II.  For more information, call Susan Alsip-Lawson at 301-739-0357, or go to www.middleburgmasondixon.org.

Chicken and waffle dinner

There will be a creamed chicken and waffle dinner at the Maugansville fire hall on Saturday, April 21, from 3 to 7 p.m. Tickets cost $6 for adults and includes two sides and beverage. A bake sale will also be conducted. All proceeds will benefit the Maugansville Volunteer Fire Department.

Maugansville Historical Society sale

The latest “My Home Town” replica series, featuring Maugansville Little League items are now available thanks to the Maugansville Historical Society. Parents, players and former players should call 301-739-6742 to reserve wooden replicas or T-shirts.
