Charles "Ike" Franklin Shindledecker, 77, of Water Street, Smithsburg, Md., passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012, peacefully at his home.

Born Feb. 12, 1935, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late William H. Shindledecker Sr. and Blanche (Stottlemyer) Shindledecker.

He attended Waynesboro area schools.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1963.

He was employed by Corning Glass in Greencastle for 35 years, retiring in 1994.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia Ann (Neal) Shindledecker; son, Thomas Lee Shindledecker and wife, Nannette, of Smithsburg; sister, Anna M. Keckler and husband, Ted, of Florida; several nieces and nephews; and a very special nephew, Jason.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, June, Robert, Art and Roy.

Family will receive friends Friday, April 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. Prayers will be held at 7 p.m. at the beginning of the visitation, with Pastor Mark Snyder officiating.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
