Four file for three seats on Funkstown Town Council

April 11, 2012

FUNKSTOWN — Three incumbent Funkstown Town Council members and a political newcomer have filed for three council seats up for grabs in the May 7 town election, Town Clerk/Treasurer Brenda Haynes said.

Assistant Mayor Sharon Chirgott was the only person to file to run for assistant mayor by Monday’s filing deadline, Haynes said.

The four candidates for the three council seats are newcomer Luke Barnette and incumbents Kim Ramer, John Phillips III and Robert D. Rodgers, Haynes said.

The election will be May 7, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Town Hall, Haynes said.

All four positions are for four-year terms.

The only pay or benefit the assistant mayor and council members receive is the minimum water amount, currently $41.23, off their quarterly water and sewer bills.
