CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — The southbound lanes of Interstate 81 near Chambersburg were shut down for about four hours Tuesday after a tractor-trailer overturned, blocking both lanes of traffic, a Franklin County Emergency Services dispatcher said.
The dispatcher said the lanes were closed north of exit 14, which is the Pa. 316/Wayne Avenue exit, following the 11:04 a.m. accident.
No one was injured in the crash, Pennsylvania State Police said at the scene.
The trailer’s cargo, rolls of newsprint paper, was unloaded and placed on a flatbed truck, police said.
By 2:50 p.m., the tractor-trailer had been pulled upright and was towed from the scene.
The southbound lanes had reopened by 3:15 p.m., according to Franklin County Emergency Services.
While the lane closures were in effect, southbound I-81 traffic was detoured onto U.S. 30 at exit 16.
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation cameras showed southbound I-81 traffic backed up beyond exit 17 (Walker Road) in Chambersburg.
