Fire causes $100,000 damage to barn near Sharpsburg

SHARPSBURG — The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the origin of a fire that caused $100,000 in damage to a barn Monday night on Mills Road near Sharpsburg.

Firefighters were called at 11:03 p.m. for a report of a wood-frame barn that was on fire at 4040 Mills Road, according to a fire marshal’s office news release.

Officials said $100,000 in damage was done to the structure. The amount of damage to the contents was unknown.

It took 48 firefighters about an hour to briing the fire under control, the release said.

Firefighters from Sharpsburg, Potomac Valley, Rohrersville, Boonsboro, Fairplay, Middletown, Md., and Shepherdstown, W.Va., responded to the scene.

The barn was owned by Alireza Mohadjer, according to the release.
