Happy belated birthday to Miss Elsie (Smith) Evans.

On Saturday, March 31, Evans celebrated her 95th birthday. She has been a resident of Funkstown since 1920, when her family moved here.

Her immediate family has a fourth generation living in this area, including six grandchildren and the great-grandchildren. Happiest of birthdays, Miss Elsie.

Back to school

Area students head back to classes Wednesday after an extended Easter break.

On Thursday at 7 p.m., the E. Russell Hicks Choral Boosters will meet in the chorus room.

Also on Thursday at Hicks, the jazz band will rehearse from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Job well done

A big “job well done!” to the Technical High School students on another successful fundraiser. Cinderella’s Closet raised nearly $1,800 for the Humane Society of Washington County.

This is the fourth year for the SkillsUSA students to take gently worn prom dresses and offer them for sale at reduced prices. All proceeds benefit the humane society.
