John Franklin Lefever Sr., 93, 16505 Virginia Ave., Williamsport, Md., died Monday, April 9, 2012, at his home.

Born Aug. 12, 1918, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Adam G. and Stella Renner Lefever.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Mae Lefever, in 2007.

He was employed with Beaver Mechanical. He worked as a painter for local area contractors for more than 50 years.

John was a member of Salem Reformed Church and was on the property committee.

He is survived by one son, John F. Lefever Jr. and wife, Becky, of Hagerstown; two daughters, Linda Wintermoyer and husband, John, of Williamsport and Susan Bowman and husband, Frank, of Boonsboro; six grandchildren, Terresa Sherrard, Pam Yost, Jamie Airinei, Jill Laws, Jodi Morgan and Todd Bowman; 14 great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Charlotte Eichelberger.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Pauline Hornbaker, Grace Dieterich and Catherine Connor; and two brothers, Harry Lefever and J. Franklin Shank.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Pastor Steve Wagoner will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Reformed Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m.
