Lioness Club marks 34th anniversary

The Hagerstown Lioness Club will celebrate its 34th anniversary Thursday at Academy Theatre Banquet & Conference Center.

Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:30.

The club will honor its charter members and award a Melvin Jones Fellow award from Lions International.

The show choir from Barbara Ingram School for the Arts will provide the entertainment.

Benefit card party to aid free clinic

The community is invited to a benefit card party to support the Community Free Clinic of Hagerstown.

The event will be at the Women’s Club Wednesday, April 18, at noon.

Tickets cost $12 and includes lunch. Any kind of card or board game can be played or just come for lunch.

Reservations are due by April 16 and can be made by calling the club at 301-739-0870.

Lions Club

Tuesday  — Rebecca Massie Lane, executive director of the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, will be the guest speaker.


Open house

Parents Day Out, a nursery/preschool program, will hold an open house Thursday, April 19, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. for all prospective students, ages 1 to 5. 

Registrations forms will be available for fall classes. Classes are held from September through May on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The program has been in operation for more than 20 years. 

The students learn colors, shapes, numbers and alphabet through games and other hands-on activities.

The school is at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 1020 Maryland Ave., Hagerstown.
