Address: 55 W. Baltimore St., Greencastle, Pa.

Opening date: March 9, 2012

Products and services: We offer a variety of art classes for anyone wishing to explore their creativity, something for every level of experience.

Target market: I am targeting individuals with a desire to create. It does not matter if they have artistic ability; we can teach them how to create.

How did you get into your business, and what motivated you to start it? I have been an artist for more than 25 years. I find teaching art very fulfilling. I love to give others the joy of art in their lives.

Joyful Arts Studio encourages the exploration of individual creativity. It is a gathering place for like-minded people to share joy and laughter while celebrating unique expression.

Previous business experience: I taught classes in my home studio for many years while working in health care. Earning a Bachelor of Arts in fine art and business and economics with a minor in small business management from Wilson College in 2010 encouraged me to explore other opportunities, and I am thrilled to have a studio in Greencastle, where the arts are thriving.

Number of employees: Five. I will teach painting, watercolor, oil and decorative painting. I especially enjoy recycling items into art, furniture, slate shingles, light bulbs, etc. Yvonne Butts-Mitchell will teach journaling and creative writing. DeWayna Hogue Pittman will teach mixed media. Tracy Sutton will teach pen and ink, acrylic painting and jewelry creation. Lindsey Sutton will teach jewelry creation.

Hours: By appointment.
