Washington Township officials donate to local 911 memorial

WAYNESBORO, Pa. — Washington Township officials made individual donations Monday to the to the Sept. 11, 2001, memorial planned at Red Run Park.

Secretary Karen Hargrave collected checks Monday from the township supervisors and manager. Each person made a donation — the suggested amount was $200 —  to the memorial.

Artifacts from New York City, the Pentagon and Shanksville, Pa., will be featured in the $110,000 memorial. Donations collected prior to Monday totaled $3,333.92.

“We want to demonstrate to the community we’re invested in this like we want the rest of the community to be,” Supervisor Stephen Kulla said.
