TOPS has no-gain weigh-in

TOPS MD 0462 Smithsburg had a no-gain weigh-in this past week, the second one for this month. John and Mary were the thinner winners for the week, each losing 2.25 pounds. Sallie was back on track with a loss of .75 pound.

Congratulations to the newly-elected chapter officers: John as leader; Dale as co-leader; Mary as secretary; and Sallie as treasurer. Also appointed as weight recorder was Mack, and assistant weight recorder was Susan.

 TOPS is a nonprofit weight loss support group focused on working with your personal doctor to help you reach your goal weight. TOPS MD 0462 Smithsburg meets every Thursday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 51 Main St., Smithsburg. Weigh-in begins at 5:30 p.m. with each chapter meeting beginning at 6 p.m. Visitors are always welcome. The first visit is free. Ballroom dance party scheduled for Friday

Jim Powers Ballroom Dance Party is this Friday evening from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Maugansville Ruritan Building on Maugans Avenue in Maugansville. The cost is $4 per person.

Last Supper re-enactment at Covenant Presbyterian

The community is invited to Covenant Presbyterian, 11833 Greenhill Drive (off Jefferson Boulevard between Robinwood Drive and Eastern Boulevard) on Thursday as the Last Supper is re-enacted. A free light meal of soup and bread will be served. We will celebrate communion and participate in a foot-washing ceremony.

 Easter egg hunt on Sunday

Children are invited to participate in an Easter egg hunt at 11:30 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian, 11833 Greenhill Drive (off Jefferson Boulevard between Robinwood Drive and Eastern Boulevard) on Sunday. Baskets will be provided.
 
Breakfast with the Easter bunny Saturday

An all-you-can-eat breakfast with the Easter bunny is scheduled for 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at the  Smithsburg Community Volunteer Fire Co., 22 N. Main St., Smithsburg. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for senior citizens, $5 for youngsters ages 6-12, free for 5 and younger. Bring your own cameras to get your picture taken with the Easter bunny.
 
Massage therapist to speak at AARP meeting

Washington County Chapter AARP 623 will meet Tuesday, April 10, at 1 p.m. in the auditorium of Western Maryland Hospital, 1500 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Sylvia Mann, registered nurse and licensed massage therapist, will speak and demonstrate the benefits of massage. Members are asked to bring items for the Salvation Army.
